Simple Present Tense

The simple present tense is used to describe habits, general truths, repeated actions, and fixed arrangements. It is one of the most commonly used tenses in English.

How to form the simple present tense:

  • For I/You/We/They, use the base verb: I eat, They play.
  • For He/She/It, add -s or -es to the base verb: He eats, She watches.

Examples:

Habit: She drinks coffee every morning.

General Truth: The sun rises in the east.

Repeated Action: We go to the gym on Mondays.
